there is a massive fucking spider in my room. it is on the wall. about ten feet from me. i am not that keen to do battle with it. it's a shitty night outside, and if a spider can't find somewhere warm and dry and out of the wind, what kind of world are we living in?

it is a fucking big spider.

it is right above my bottles of good booze. i cannot risk a shot.

it is very big.

i am not sure i am this good with spiders.

i am trying to find some rationale to leave it there.

i don't want to get out of bed and chase this fucker about, while experiencing the thrill of the hunt with something that could feasibly kill me. and i don't really want to kill it.

of course this is when you wish you owned a gecko. or a praying mantid.

either way, i am actually tired for a change, and really do want to go to sleep.

this is not making things easier.

huntsman? practically harmless, and very shy

I knew you'd respond. And i knew you'd defend the creepy bastard on the wall.

I knew i could count on you. You really are the mad scientist who raves at how magnificent the giant mantis he created is, while it eats his lab assistants. :)

I also knew you would be disappointed in me, if i had killed it. I did not. As you can see i am also alive. He has responded by moving towards the window, but *now* i think he's malingering a little.

Are you in Texas as your profile says? (Matt put me onto you because you used to live in Santa Cruz, and may or may not have had some ties to Australia.)

They have Huntsmans in Australia, had no idea they were in the US.

Huntsman won't kill you, but they are freakishly huge. If you're in Texas a brown recluse can do a lot of harm. Me, I'd get a spray and watch the fucker die. Then get one of those barrier sprays so they don't come into your house for 6 months.

Don't think i ever actually saw a Brown Recluse, heard all about them, had spiders pointed out to me that they argued were BRs. Was never properly settled.

No longer in Texas. I will fix that one day.

I have never been to Santa Cruz, which i think is in California, which i also have never been to.

It was probably a huntsman, and i know they are peace loving, shy creatures as drhoz would assure us all, but it was still a bloody big fucking spider suspiciously close to my bed.

Generally, i evict spiders within about 48 hours of their arrival in the house. I just felt this ones chosen rest spot was just a little presumptuous.

I'm fairly certain you once had your location as Santa Cruz!

Matt must have put me onto you because you have ties to Australia.

Don't live in Sydney...they have funnel web spiders. Deadly motherfuckers.

What happened?
Oct. 7th, 2012 02:45 pm (UTC)
i couldn't be bothered to get up and do anything about it, and just hoped that it was going to keep it's distance. It did, and it looks like it is ready to leave because there's nothing to eat in my room. And spiders don't drink whiskey

I am hoping it will move out overnight.

How are you?

He's just trying to guard your booze!

You should praise him with pettings. :D
