WoW

some time in the next few days i am going to go and have a look at WoW myself. The flatmate left her account for us to play with, and i am finally going to go and have a look.

You can all leave one piece of advice, and "Don't do it." is what my brain has been saying for years now.

Economics
Everyone I know who plays WoW says it saves them tons, and tons of money.

15 bucks a month for entertainment, not a bad deal. But stay away if you have an addictive personality. :p

don't give me a reason to stay in the game. This is an investigation, nothing more. Dig?

I hope.

If you can somehow make days twice as long for you while they still stay the same for everyone else, then I say go for it. That game sucks OMGWTF so much time. On the other hand you're less likely to have some drunk tard try to stab you whilst sitting in your room playing WoW than you are on the street in Dallas.

WoW is the best computer game that I have ever played. However, I don't play it anymore. I think about starting again sometimes, but it's somewhat like the same way that an ex-junkie taking a hit of smack for old times sake.

That said though, my advice is to play it so that you see what the rage is all about, but not to get into the raiding scene. You will have the most fun with the game if you can find a group of 4 other friends who can all play regularly 2 or 3 times a week for a few hours and then organizing to all play during that time, doing nothing that gains you XP during other times (aside from stuff that you have to do solo) and sticking religiously to that commitment. The result: You will be able to do everything in the game up to the stupidly time-consuming endgame, you will not get out of one-another's level ranges and therefore always be able to do the same content together, and you will keep one anothers play times in check.

the whole turning into a junkie aspect is worrying. i already spend far too much time on Call fo Duty and now MOHAA. I quit Travian cold turkey because it was eating my life.

this really does not bode well.

Yeah. If you have a leaning towards hardcore gaming like me and probably you, then you need to set yourself limits and stick to them. If you do that then you'll have a lot of fun. Responsible gaming is like responsible drinking: when you think you've had enough for the day, stop, then you wont be puking all over the joint / skipping work to play WoW and having bouncers / landlords kicking you out of the bar / apartment. If you don't think you can do that, don't play WoW.

It gets boring fast if you're not really into it, I always find myself stopping to pull out a book and read. Yes, read.

I being the flatmate who has left her account for these two soon to be mongers, am proud to see most of you cheering him on.

Hahahahah.
